Megogo case study

The Client

Megogo is a versatile entertainment application available on the Google Play Store, offering a wide array of multimedia content for users. The app serves as a comprehensive platform for streaming movies, TV series, and live TV channels, catering to diverse preferences in entertainment. Users can explore a vast library of content across various genres, including action, comedy, drama, and more, all accessible through an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

Megogo supports high-definition streaming and allows users to bookmark favorite shows, create watchlists, and receive personalized recommendations based on viewing history. With seamless playback and offline viewing options, Megogo ensures uninterrupted entertainment experiences on mobile devices, making it a popular choice among audiences seeking on-the-go access to a rich and diverse selection of multimedia content.

Week 1-Week

Collecting Data & Reaching CPA

Goal

A/B Test, Collect Data & Reach CPA

Task

The client was interested in promoting their application and increasing the number of users. Megogo has never driven paid traffic to their app before. Since this is a Ukrainian application, the client was interested in the Ukrainian geo.

Our goal was to attract highly engaged users who frequently utilize the app's features. To achieve this, we performed extensive A/B testing on Google, carefully assessing the performance of various creative approaches in each promotional campaign.

We shared our findings with the Megogo team, and after collaborative discussions, we decided to adopt a Revenue Share cooperation model for future initiatives. Then we started promoting the Android application.

Stage 2

Week 4-Week 8

Increase user base, test new traffic sources, increase ROAS

Goal

Attract traffic that will quickly pay for itself in a subscription within the application

Task

In our advertising approach, we always test different resources. And in the case of Megogo, we also tested Facebook. From the difficulties of launching advertising campaigns for this application, we can see that elements from films and cartoons, which can be used in advertising to attract people and increase the number of conversions, can easily be banned due to copyright.

For this application, extensive testing revealed that both Google and Facebook are highly effective. However, it is crucial to focus on the ROAS metric when utilizing the Revenue Share cooperation model. In a fairly short time, we managed to increase this figure several times. If we talk about the number of new users, then at this stage we brought more than 8,000.

Stage 3

Week 8 - Week 12

Increase user base and subscriptions, Find new traffic sources and Geos

Goal

Test Mintegral, optimize Google ads campaigns, test new Geos

Task

We were focused mainly on Google, but decided to continue looking for new traffic sources. And we decided to test such source traffic as Mintegral. Mintegral is a global mobile ad platform offering user acquisition, monetization, and creative solutions for advertisers and mobile publishers, connecting markets in the East and West.

Since we continue our cooperation with Megogo, we are still looking for working approaches for this traffic source, while simultaneously launching and optimizing campaigns on Google. In addition to the fact that at this stage of cooperation we tested new traffic routes, we also connected two new geos - Romania and Poland.

According to Google, at this stage of cooperation we reached a significant number of attracted users - more than 15,000.

It has been a great honor for us to develop such a high-quality and unique product on the Ukrainian market as Megogo. Our collaborative efforts have yielded impressive results, significantly increasing Megogo's user base and achieving substantial returns on investment.
